Enjoying Legal Highs with Bongs

worldofweed | Bongs, Herbal Highs, Legal Highs, Smoking | Friday, September 3rd, 2010

A bong is a type of filtration and smoking device that is most commonly used for smoking illegal substances and tobacco.  However, they are also an excellent way to smoke a blend of natural herbs and plant material in order to enjoy legal highs.  The construction of the standard bong is similar in nature to that of a hookah pipe.  Additionally, their functions are analogous in that they both produce very similar results where legal highs are concerned.

Bongs are typically constructed from air and water tight vessels, and come with a screened smoking bowl and a stem apparatus known as a slide.  The bongs available on the market today come in all shapes and sizes.  When you are shopping for a bong, whether it is online or at a land-based location, you will usually see a wide selection of both acrylic and glass bongs to choose from.  The glass varieties typically cost more while the acrylics are more durable and less susceptible to breakage.

The history of bongs dates back in the legends of the Hmong people – an ethnic group from Asia that inhabited the mountainous regions of China, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam – for many years. However, the earliest Western documentation of bongs occurred during World War II (1944) and was found in McFarland’s Thai-English Dictionary.  It describes the device as being a water pipe constructed from bamboo and used for smoking a wide variety of materials, both legal and illegal by today’s standards.

Acrylic Bongs or Glass Bongs?

worldofweed | Bongs, Herbal Highs, Legal Highs, Smoking | Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Where bongs are concerned, there has always been the debate over which type of bong is best.  Some individuals prefer acrylic bongs while others prefer glass bongs.  The following is a list of the flaws and merits of bongs manufactured out of each material.

The primary advantages of acrylic bongs are:

* Appearance – they are manufactured in more interesting and intricate patterns
* Durability – they are considerably harder to break or crack
* Maintenance – they are easier to clean
* Price– they are typically cheaper than glass bongs

The only real disadvantage to using acrylic bongs is that the smoke tends to be harsher, especially when a larger acrylic bong is being used for legal highs.

Glass bong advantages include:

* Aesthetics – many people feel that glass is a far more artistic material (especially when the bong is made from blown glass) compared to acrylic materials
* Impressiveness – acrylic bongs feel flimsy whereas ones manufactured from glass feel more solid and sturdy
* Quality of the hit – usually, glass bongs provide a cooler, smoother hit than what acrylic bongs do

The downside is that glass bongs are more susceptible to breakage.  This is especially true whenever you are cleaning them using hot water.

The bottom line is that the decision between using acrylic bongs versus glass bongs is a matter of budget, personal preference, and how smooth you want the smoke to be when you are enjoying legal highs.  You will pay a bit more for a nice glass bong compared to an acrylic one.

Information about Bongs

worldofweed | Bongs, Herbal Highs, Smoking | Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Although bongs are more traditionally associated with cannabis than any other type of plant, they are actually used around the world in a variety of countries to smoke regular tobacco and tobacco alternatives. They offer a smoother smoke than traditional pipes because the water filtration helps reduce some of the harshness of the smoke.

In some Middle Eastern and Asian countries, it is common to use multi-pipe bongs, otherwise known as hookah pipes. Not only is tobacco smoked, but also various forms of plants and vegetables, plus dried fruits such as apple, oranges, lemons and many others.

One of the most interesting things about bongs is that many individuals choose to make their own. Many different home-made bongs have been made over the years, including bucket bongs, two litre soft drink bottle bongs, gravity bongs and using a mail tube carrier to create a bong. As long as the smoke can bubble through some water and be sucked through some sort of appropriate pipe, the rest of the bong design is entirely up to the creator.

Despite the frugality and inventiveness associated with homemade bongs, many people choose to purchase professionally crafted bongs for their legal highs, such as glass bongs and acrylic bongs. The most expensive type of glass bongs sold are roor bongs, which are individually made by hand.  Bongs are not generally considered illegal by themselves or when used with products for obtaining legal highs. However, certain substances used in conjunction with a bong may be illegal, so pay attention to the rules wherever you live.

Benefits of Multi-Pipe Bongs

worldofweed | Bongs, Herbal Highs, Legal Highs, Smoking | Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Bongs in general are a great way to enjoy smoking herbs and other types of plants as a means of obtaining a high that is legal and relatively safe.  Among the different designs for the bong, one that is growing in popularity is the multi-pipe bong.  Here are a few of the advantages that multi-pipe bongs offer users, both in terms of the quality of the high and in the general use.

All bongs have a basic design that includes a hollow pipe or cylinder that is attached to a bowl.  One end of the pipe is open, allowing the user to position his or her mouth over the end piece and inhale smoke from the herbs.  With a multi-pipe bong, there are pipes coming off the main cylinder that make it possible for several people to inhale at the same time.  This makes the multi-pipe bong ideal for use at parties or other casual get-togethers around the house.

Some of these bongs with multiple channels or pipes are constructed with glass channels, while others use materials that are more flexible.  This makes it relatively easy to position the bong on a coffee table or similar surface, and allow everyone to gather round for a smoke.  As with any type of bong, the cleanup is relatively easy, a fact that makes taking care of your bong a simple process.

Another aspect of the multi-pipe bong has to do with what is going on in the channels.  Most designs are equipped with filters for each channel.  This helps to ensure that impurities are filtered out of the smoke before it reaches the end of the pipes.  The design allows each smoker to reap more of the benefits of the herbs, while minimising the exposure to impurities that could irritate the throat or create some other form of distress.   When coupled with the ease of use, these additional safety features make using a multi-pipe bong a very wise option for anyone who wants to enjoy herbs with his or her friends.

How to Choose the Right Bong

worldofweed | Bongs, Herbal Highs, Smoking | Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Bongs or water pipes are handy devices for smoking your favourite plants.  For people looking for some legal highs, these devices are ideal for enjoying a number of dried herbs and herbal combinations.  Because there are so many different types of bongs on the market today, choosing the right one may seem a daunting task.  Fortunately, there are a few basic questions that will help narrow the search.

First, do you prefer something that is made with natural materials?  If that is the case, then a wooden bong, possibly one constructed with bamboo would be the best option.  A good quality wooden water pipe will last for years, providing many happy hours of relaxation.  Best of all, wooden models are relatively easy to maintain, and only get better with age.

If you want a bong that is extremely low maintenance, then going with an acrylic bong may be your best bet.  Water pipes of this type are super easy to clean, and tend to not absorb aromas, which may be a plus if you like to smoke different types of dried plants and herbs.  The acrylic also tends to stand up to a lot of use, and is less subject to scratching than some other designs.

You can also go with a glass bong.  It is possible to obtain glass components blown from different colours of glass, a factor some find very appealing.  Glass bongs have many of the same benefits as acrylic bongs, but are somewhat more fragile.  Still, many prefer the glass model to any other type of bong, and can get years of use from one water pipe.

As with most purchases, price may also be a consideration.  Decide what you really want, then see if you can find it in your price range.  If not, look through what you can afford and determine if any of those options are acceptable.  If possible, delay the purchase until you can afford what you really want.  Getting something that is good quality will allow you to use the device for many years without the need to replace your bong every two to three years, even with heavy usage.
