Percolator Bongs are Best for Smoking Herbs

Percolator bongs are used for smoking products that are perfectly legal to smoke. The device uses water for heat exchange and dissolution of the smoke, and it is often referred to as a water pipe.  Traditional bongs have a single chamber or cylinder. Percolator bongs have an additional chamber within the cylinder or bulb chamber holding the water that is used to filter the smoke through the water.  Adding or using a diffuser in the bong will achieve further filtration of the smoke. A diffuser is an adapted downstem that is perforated at the end and helps to break up the smoke bubbles in the water. This helps to filter and cool the smoke, making the vapour smooth to taste.

Many percolator bongs are made of glass. Such bongs can be intricately designed and fragile for everyday use.  Tree percolator bongs have up to eight multiple arms that are used to increase the amount of smoke that can enter the water.& Dome percolators are more common, with holes around the shaped dome that are suited to maximise the correct airflow. Slow-draw percolation occurs with Ring-style percolators. Changing the airflow and creating a drag through the percolator develops a smoother smoke. Multi-action Dewar percolators have spheres inside the bong that allows smoke to fill the sphere before being forced out of holes or slits in the base. Therefore, this style combines air and water percolation in a single unit.

The main function of a diffuser is to cool the smoke and vapours by pushing smoke-filled bubbles through water in the bong. The surface of the bubbles touches the water and heat exchange occurs.  The size of the bubbles is determined by the size of the holes in the diffuser.
