Legal Highs – Secrets Revealed

worldofweed | Drugs Information, Legal Highs | Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Legal highs are drugs that are not prohibited by the United Nations Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs. The most common intoxicant is alcohol, but today many people are investigating the native intoxicating herbs and plants used by indigenous peoples, as well as modern intoxicating drugs that have not been deemed illegal.

Legal highs represent alternatives to illegal street drugs like Ecstasy and cocaine, they also are easier to get hold of and are less dangerous.

There are various types of intoxicants:

Stimulants, commonly called uppers, are psychoactive drugs. They cause a temporary improvement in psychical or mental functions. The effects are alertness, wakefulness and locomotion, among others. Some examples of these legal highs are caffeine, found in coffee, Nicotine, found in cigarettes, mephedrone and ephedrine.

Intoxicants are psychotropic substances that alter the brain function. This causes a change in mood, consciousness, perception and behaviour. They can be used recreationally, as medication or as entheogens. There are different kinds of intoxicants on the market that are considered legal highs. Salvia Divinorum, Hawaiian Baby Woodrose, nutmeg, DXM (Dextromethorphan) and ergot are just a few examples.

Deliriants
Deliriants are disassociative substances that can cause delirium. The effects include stupor, confabulation, confusion and regression to “phantom” behaviour. It can be said that people who use these substances are somewhat in a psychotic episode. Common examples of this type of drug include Datura, poisonous weeds that contain tropane alkaloids used as hallucinogens and Diphenhydramine, an over the counter antihistamine and sedative.

Depressants, commonly called uppers, temporarily remove a person’s ability to function. Sedation, anxiolysis and hypotension are the usual effects. The most commonly used form of this drug is alcohol, but kava, an ancient plant from the western Pacific and diethyl ether, commonly used as an anaesthetic are also available. Both have similar effects to those of alcohol and can be legally consumed.

These are just some of the most common types of legal highs. Most of them are available over the counter and also have medicinal or therapeutic properties, thus making them legally acceptable.

However, it should always be remembered that taking any legal highs should only be taken in moderation to avoid any damage to your health.

The Best of Handheld Vaporisers

worldofweed | Cannabis, Legal Highs, Smoking, Vaporizers | Monday, October 12th, 2009

Handheld vaporisers are seen as an excellent choice for a number of reasons. There are those who believe that they are healthier than bongs, because they only inhale the purest ingredients, therefore protecting their lungs from harmful smoke. Some also choose handheld vaporisers as they are small enough to be discreet and they eject only a minimum odour. Whatever the reasons for choosing them, handheld vaporisers are perfect for only a small amount of herb.

There are many types of handheld vaporisers on the market, but one of the most popular is the unique Iolite, the latest version of which looks like a cross between a cigarette lighter and a small mobile phone. It doesn’t require a battery or an electric power source. Instead, the vaporising process is powered by lighter gas. Despite its small size, the chamber can hold up to 500mg of herbal mix that should last for around 15minutes.

If you are looking for a cheaper handheld vaporiser, the bulb-like Basil Bush is a good choice. All you need is a small amount of mixture to place inside the glass bowl. You then simply screw in the stem and mouthpiece, heat the bowl over a flame, rotate it and inhale the smoke.

Even on a very low budget, you can still get great hits with the Eagle Bill “Shake and Vape” vaporiser pipe. This is the most basic looking, portable vaporiser around, but it produces the smoothest smoke you’ll ever get.

If you want to hush your “kush”, the Vapbong travel vaporiser really comes in handy. It looks like a magic marker from a distance, but is designed to extract plant substances and cool down the vapour before inhaling. It contains an inner glass tube that prevents the plant from burning and is constructed using laboratory glass for extreme heat protection.

Legal Highs – The Best of its Kind

worldofweed | Drugs Information, Legal Highs | Friday, October 9th, 2009

Every now and then people everywhere want to escape the stress and hustle and bustle of modern life. Sometimes they turn to drugs or intoxicants to escape, but many types of drugs are outlawed in most countries, so where do they turn to?

Legal highs, which take the form of intoxicating drugs that are not prohibited by the United Nations Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, may be the answer. Anyone who wants to get high without the repercussions of possibly going to jail commonly uses them.

If you are interested, here are some of the best legal highs you can find on the market.

1) Salvia
Salvia is the most popular legal drug available on the market and it is one mostly used by teenagers. This is a psychoactive plant used by indigenous Mazatec shamans as entheogens for healing the spirit. It can cause hallucinations and mood changes and is a great way to escape reality for a short time.

2) Psilocybin mushrooms
Psilocybin mushrooms, more commonly called “magic” mushrooms, can be taken orally and have mind-altering effects that can last for between 3 and 8 hours, depending on the dosage. People taking them feel a mild stupor and often experience hallucinations.

3) Nutmeg
Nutmeg, ground or whole, can give you a buzz. It contains psychoactive chemicals, which can cause hallucinations, sound distortion and random talking. However, this takes some time to take effect.

4) Wild Lettuce
Wild lettuce is often taken for its psychotropic effects, particularly sedative or hypnotic. These are usually described as being similar to opium and include mild stupor and hallucinations, which take effect quickly, but do not last for long.

5) Dextromethorphan
Dextromethorphan, or DXM is a cough-suppressant drug found in many over the counter cough medicines. When taken in high dosages, it causes disassociative hallucinations.

Most of these items are not dangerous as long as taken in moderation. Just be sure to stay safe and stick to the legal highs that your body can take.

Never Get Caught Again

worldofweed | Cannabis, Legal Highs, Smoking, Vaporizers | Monday, October 5th, 2009

So, you’re looking for a smokeless bong? You aren’t the only one, but there really isn’t an easy solution to your problem. However, if you’re desperate to find an alternative, then there is a simple alternative, try using a vaporiser.

Vaporisers come in different shapes and sizes, but they all have the same benefits and advantages. Do you have health problems, like asthma and dislike smoke? Do you want to avoid detection from “certain” people or you’re just afraid of being caught smoking by your parents? Or do you just want to feel clean and safe while puffing away on your favourite leaf or herb? You need look no further, because there is no doubt that vaporisers can help you with all of these problems.

A typical vaporiser has several differences over a bong. First, it produces no smoke at all. So no one will ever know what you’re doing, unless they are doing the same. Second, many harmful substances or chemicals that might otherwise be inhaled into your lungs are completely removed by the vaporiser. Third, it’s totally silent and subtle, which ensures your parents will never ever catch you puffing again.

So, what are the best vaporisers?

Just because you’re on a budget doesn’t mean that you can’t get yourself a great-quality cheap product that also serves as a toker’s ultimate friend. Try a BC vaporiser, which is superb; it’s easy and fun to use, comfortable, looks amazing, and is cheap. If you’re saving your money for tobacco or herb, then this is the one for you. However, if you want to be a little cooler than smokers using BC vaporisers and want something more substantial, then buy a Volcano vaporiser. This is, without a doubt, the best one ever, but once you use it, you will never ever want to smoke out of anything else; quite simply, it is the king of vaporisers.
