Cannabis vs Pharmaceuticals

Bingo Blim | Medicinal Cannabis | Thursday, August 9th, 2007

This morning I read a very disturbing article on “Cannabis linked with psychosis and lung damage” by Chris Kalderimis of Dominion Post, stating its case against cannabis for medicinal purposes. The argument is that cannabis should not be legalised for medicinal purposes because of these side-effects.

Firstly, I would like to repeat my stance that people should be able to make up their own minds about how best to treat their conditions.

Secondly, there should be others who monitor the side-effects and are able to speak up if they see adverse signs appearing. This would be far better established if marijuana was legal for these purposes.

Thirdly, a natural substance will always win hands-down against man-made pharmaceutical remedies in any situation possible as far as I’m concerned.

Fourthly, if cannabis were a legal medicine, it could be produced at the right strength, without all the unnecessary added chemicals that make it strong enough to trigger psychosis.

Fifthly, for God’s sake man! Don’t you know that there are many more ways to take cannabis than simply smoking it?!!!! (If you’ve got a point to make, check out your facts first! You’ve clearly never even skimmed the surface of this so-called criminal activity!!!!)

And finally, if you want to investigate the detremental effects of drugs that are actually meant to help conditions, try looking into something like Seroxat! Seroxat is just one example of a pharmaceutical drug, developed to stablise an illness (in this case, psychosis) which had tragic and fatal consequences for its users. In some instances, patients with relatively mild depression ended up with full-blown psychosis and ending their own lives. Directly as a result of being on this medication. How is this allowed to happen? It happens because these new maufactured drugs are not researched and tested properly before becoming legally available. Unlike cannabis, a natural (and might I add, highly economical) remedy which has been used for centuries, its benefits and side-effects well-known to anyone who cares to read up on it.

Or try your average pharmaceutical pain-killers. Prescription pain-killers, used to relieve the terrible discomfort of MS sufferers, for example, can lead to irreversible liver damage and ultimate death due to liver failure. I have met many MS sufferers who regularly take cannabis, not because they want to get high, but because they find it is the most effective pain relief there is. They don’t have to smoke it. They can eat it or vaporize it if they choose.

And why does the government keep cannabis from becoming a prescription drug? Because the pharmaceutical companies who develop the brain-frying, liver-damaging alternatives are paying their wages. That’s why. It’s sick. And I’m sick of hearing ignorant stuck-up busy-bodies trying to educate the rest of the population on matters they know nothing about.

See my blog “Go Go Ganja Granny” for an idea about how this issue should be dealt with.

How to Make a Bucket Bong

Bingo Blim | How-To Articles | Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

The reliably brain-blasting bucket bong! This invention has been enjoyed universally for years and is the prime choice for many hardcore cannabis tokers!

Here’s what you need to make one:

1. A 2 litre(ish) plastic bottle (like a Coke bottle)
2. A bucket (big enough to put your bottle into)
3. Some tin foil
4. A cannabis/ tobacco mix (or just pure cannabis)

Step One:
First you have to cut off the bottom of your bottle. A pair of scissors will do the trick.

Step Two:
Fill your bucket with water.

Step Three:
You need to make a bong bowl with your tin foil. To do this, fold your tin foil into a triangular shape with a few layers to it. Then twist it around your finger and mold it into a bowl shape. If you’ve got any excess round the top, just fold it down or cut it off. Next, take a pin and pierce a few holes in the bottom of your bong bowl.

Step Four:
Push your bong bowl into the bucket of water, top side up.

Step Five:
Fill your bong bowl with cannabis mix and place it into the top of your bottle (the drinking bit).

Step Six:
Light your mix, then slowly pull the bottle upwards. You will see it fill up with smoke. NOTE: Don’t pull the bottle all the way out of the water or you will lose the smoke!

Step Seven:
Remove the bong bowl. (Be careful – they get pretty hot!) Put your mouth over the bottle top and inhale the smoke. As you inhale, gravity pulls the bong down into the bucket and forces the smoke straight into your lungs. Ingenious! :-)

How to Make a Waterfall Bong

Bingo Blim | How-To Articles | Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

The waterfall bong is a great variation on the bucket bong. They are both “gravity bongs“.)You will need someone to help you when you use it along with the following materials:

1. A 2 litre plastic bottle
2. A bucket or a sink
3. Some tin-foil
3. Scissors or other sharp implement
4. Cannabis mix

Step One:

Make a hole in the bottom of your bottle. This can be hard to do with scissors – sometimes a screwdriver is more effective.

Step Two:

Use the tinfoil to make a small bong bowl to fit into the top of the bottle. This can be done by folding it into a triangle, a few layers thick, then molding it into a bowl shape. Then pierce a few holes in the bottom of it to create a filter.

Step Three:

Holding a finger or thumb firmly over the hole in the bottom of the bottle, fill it with water and keep upright. You need the bucket or sink to be beneath the bottle at this point.

Step Four:

Fill the foil bowl with cannabis mix, place it into the top of the bottle and light it.

Step Five:

Holding the bottle over the sink/ bucket, remove your finger from the hole at the bottom and allow all the water to drain out. This will draw smoke into the bottle. When the bottle is empty of water and filled with smoke, place your finger back over the hole.

Step Six:

Carefully remove the bong bowl (it will be hot). Place your mouth over the top of the bottle and inhale. You can use the hole at the base of the bottle as a rush-hole (release it half way through and the smoke will shoot into your lungs).

You may need a big safety cushion to fall back on about 5 seconds after your toke! :)
